Daylight Nest

Posted on Mon Aug 12th, 2019 @ 2:20am by Summers

Mission: Sunnydale, A new Darkness
Location: Quincy Street
Timeline: Morning After lost in thought

Summers did not hunt only at night. It would be stupid to do so considering what she hunted sometimes slept during the day. It would be so much easier to kill vampires if she hunted them by the light of day than by night when she could end up surrounded or only finding a handful at a time. One thing she had noticed though the news was that there had been a few attacks in the neighborhood she currently investigated. A lot of those attacks had been considered animal attacks.

However, a visit to the city morgue had told Summers that those attacks were done by vampires. More than one victim had more than one set of tiny tiny punctures on the neck or maybe the arm. She knew of those dens where humans go to offer their blood to a vampire. Since Sunnydale, California had been a crater up until the last few months, there hadn't been any dens in the area so it couldn't be that. The only other answer would be a vampire nest. That is what Summers was looking for at the present. She wasn't going to let those strange feelings of guilt over the Demon she didn't kill stop her from doing her job.

Summers looked around the neighborhood. The only thing out of the ordinary was the house at the end of the Quincy Street was a house that was board up and yet there were signs of life. Summers looked around before looking through the wood boards on the windows she noticed sleeping bodies. Now those bodies were either the victims or the vampires. She smirked at having found a nest. Looking around she grabbed some fallen boards that looked as if they came from the upper floor and used them to make sure that the doors wouldn't open on the front or back of the house. Then she reached into the bag on her shoulder that she carried with her just in case and climbed the side of the house and into the opening that had been made in the second-floor window.

Once inside Summers made quick work of finding enough garbage, (which wasn't hard because it looked as if they tried to keep their humans alive to feed off of them instead of just draining them dry. However, it seems their latest meal had passed on from this world from the looks of the skin color. Using the matches she kept on her person in case she found a nest during the day. Throwing the matches on the garbage she watched it spread for a few minutes before climbing back out of the window. The sun was high, nowhere near setting so she would wait for a few minutes to see if any Vampire manages to escape the flames.

Summers was surprised how fast the flames caught and the fire spread. Two vampires tried to get out before the flames could catch them. ripping the boards off the window on the first floor. Summers staked the first one, the second one caught fire from the sun while Summers staked the one in front of him. With all the vampires covered in fire, Summers turned to walk away never realizing that the fire wasn't contained.
