Working through it

Mission: Sunnydale, A new Darkness

It was the morning after the wake and Buffy couldn't sleep, to many emotions going through her. She was pissed off that someone murdered her sister and that Sunnydale had went right back to the way it was before. A pissed off Slayer was something the thing she was hunting should take seriously. She and Willow couldn't even shop for Dawn's wake and they had to save someone from becoming a lunch time snack for their vampire date.

She was in a pair of yoga pants, a tank, and her running shoes. Her hair was pulled back and she was covered in sweat as she had been pounding away at the punching bag in the work out room. Xander had reinforced the equipment in the room to stand up to a slayer training session. A hard right swing and a knee to the other side of the bag, followed by several quick punches the bag rocked back. The Slayer punched the bag harder and harder, Buffy's way of dealing with her anger was sometimes to hit something. She knew she could never let it get the best of her and a good work out was the perfect way to 'relax'.

As she continued to drip in sweat and beat the hell out of the punching bag, she realized her anger was really sadness. She grabbed the bag, stopping it from swinging and let the tears start to flow. She missed Dawn and while she was angry that someone took her sister, the hole in her heart was what was getting to Buffy the most. In a way Buffy was glad it was coming out now at almost two a.m.

She tried to be the strong one in the group, but now was her time to break down. The Hell Mouth had taken so much from her and so many others and she was done loosing people. Buffy fell to her knees still holding the punching bag and sobbing, tears flowing from her eyes. The Slayer would sob for the good part of an hour before she finally stopped and made her way back to her feet.

After drying her eyes Buffy decided she should take a shower before she got a little sleep. She was also glad Giles insisted on them not drinking earlier, which most of them didn't. Of course there were a few that had a few drinks, but nothing out of hand. As the shower started more tears fell from her eyes, but Buffy felt like the work out and the cry session, followed by a little sleep would help her face the day. At least keep it together as long as she could. She would never stop thinking about her mom, Dawn, Tara, Anya, she could think of so many that she missed, some more than others. However she brushed her hair and finished up her hygiene routine and climbed into the bed, hopefully to get a little shut eye.
